Do you regret getting a hair relaxer?

I never had a relaxer for my hair!!

but when I turned 30 I wanted to try something different

and its been about 4 years since and i regret it I hate the condition of my hair. It changed everything!!! Im biracial and i wore my hair natural

up until 30

so my advice to everyone never get a relaxer!!!!

does anyone feel the same.Do you regret getting a hair relaxer?
Oh I'm so sorry to hear that!! Hair relaxers are very damaging to your hair. You should have been consulted and strand tested before it was done. I don't like them either. Try deep conditioners and hot oil treatments. This should help some. Make sure you are getting the dead ends cut every 6-8 weeks, and just try and be gentle with it. Good luck hon, I hope it gets better for you.

Black relaxers on Eurasian hair?

I'm white and Asian with slightly wavy hair. It's pretty fine but I have a lot of it. I want to try a cute bob style, but my hair is too ';big'; for it. I want it to be straighter with a lighter texture, at least in back. Could I try Dark and Lovely, maybe a mild formula? What would that do? I could leave it in for 1/2 the time.Black relaxers on Eurasian hair?
Go to a professional who regularly does relaxers 4 white women, experimenting is a bad idea. A: because it could seriously damage ur hair if it's too strong, especially the kind black women use. B: because it can change ur texture permanently in a way u might not like. C: because there is a lot of extra effort u have to put in 2 take care of it. Once u relax, often u can no longer b wash n go.

What is a good hair relaxer?

I have very curly strawberry chocolatey blonde hair and i like my curls but somtimes it just is too big and drives me a bit crazy. Does anyone know a lotion of cream for your hair that is inexpensive but relaxes uncontrollable hair well? What is a good hair relaxer?
I don't know, but I do know that when we were kids, some of my ex-friends would put butterflies in a ';relaxing'; jar with lighter fluid, and that would kill the butterflies into ';relaxing'; them so pins could be put through their bodies for display!

Hope I helped!

  • Will dying my hair affect the relaxer?

I got my hair chemically straightened about a month ago. I'm pretty sure she just used a relaxer. I'm thinking about buying an at home coloring kit, would this possibly make my hair curly again or are they completely different things? Will dying my hair affect the relaxer?
it will just change the color of your hair, not the texture. I got a relaxer and a color at the same time and nothing bad happend at all. Will dying my hair affect the relaxer?
it never affected mine, go for it
    i dont think so
U may be at risk of your hair falling out.
you should go to a spa for a hot hair therapy it will do u justice
Nope, I had one done and then I dyed my hair black and nothing happen. Just try to do a lot of treatments so you dont damage your hair. Good luck!
if it is simple relaxer then the effect will go off in few days but if it is orpper straithning then it will not affect colouring in any which ways .better be prepaired with good hair relxer and then use colour
it shouldn't change the texture just the color....but if you have curly hair and you wash it i think your hair may just curl up again.....
They always tell me to wait 2 wks in between... But take into account what condition your hair is in. If it is really dried out then for a few weeks deep conditioning it. That way you won't have your hair fall out... :)

I have a demonstration speech to give @ school and i want to use how to mix hair relaxer?

I need help with the outline of the prject the insticutions I already have for the mixturt of te hair relaxerI have a demonstration speech to give @ school and i want to use how to mix hair relaxer?
    Start with your introduction. Eg: ';Hair relaxing is a very common treatment. People with coarse or curly hair use hair relaxing treatments in order to get smooth hair.';

    Now, give a brief mention as to what hair relaxing treatment is. Eg: ';After completing a hair relaxing treatment, the client will have smoother hair. Hair relaxing formula includes the following ingredients ____________. A relaxing treatment usually takes 45 minutes.';

    Mention each ingredient (in order that you would mix them). Perhaps you could mention the use for each ingredient. Eg: ';When preparing the relaxing treatment, you first measure out a pint of ingredient x. Ingredient x forms the base and it's acidity helps in the overall relaxing treatment. Then we will add some of y. Y functions as a conditioning agent.';

    Now how you'd apply it, ';once we've mixed x,y and z together, we cover the client's hair in it. It is important to do this in a highly ventilated area, since the fumes are noxious. You should also periodically check on the client to ensure that their hair is responding well to the treatment and it is not damaged. After 45 minutes, rinse the clients hair and condition it. Now you should be able to style it.';

    Perhaps mention some counterindications. Eg: ';You should not apply relaxing treatment to clients with highly damaged hair, bleached hair. If you have a pregnant client, you may want to suggest that they discuss this treatment with their doctor as their may be negative side effects.';

I actually know nothing about relaxing treatments, so obviously you'll have to fill in the details. When writing your outline break it into sections (intro, ingredients, application, counterindications). Under each of these headings use point form and note things you'll say. Unless your teacher tells you otherwise, point form would do.

How to get straight hair from relaxer??

Im an african american female and normally when i get my hair relaxed it comes out semi-straight but i need it SUPER straight so any advice. oh yea do you have any after care tips. like to get it shiney and bouncey and to make the relaxer last longer and how to make hair grow? PLZ HELP. 10 points to best answer. How to get straight hair from relaxer??
Sounds like you either need a stronger strength relaxer, or you aren't leaving it in long enough. This is what I do:

    Relax/shampoo

Spray heat protector on damp hair

    put wrapping foam on hair

    wrap hair

    sit under hooded dryer

comb it out, and spray heat protector on again and flat iron it.

Making sure you cut the ends about every 2 months has helped my hair grow...and it is super shiny...I think it's the heat protector that I use (silk elements) and a ceramic flat iron.

Oh...and my hair got a LOT healthier after I stopped using the no-lye relaxers and use a relaxer with lye (silk elements too). My relaxers last about 2 and a half months.

Good luck. How to get straight hair from relaxer??

You will never get the results you are hoping for. Genetics gave you what you got. I have heard of another stylist using a product called Simply Straight and the only thing she had to do in the morning to have straight hair was blow dry with a round brush. This is not cheap and is only available in salons. If you want silky straight hair get yourself a chi flat iron. Curious quesiton about curly hair and relaxers?

I have a question about getting a relaxer if my hair is the same texture as Leona Lewis. Very curly and thick.

I haven't had a relaxer since I was around 12 (my mom didn't know that it was bad)... My hair was wavy after that relaxer from what I remember.

What the best way to start dreads and how do you take care of them? Right now my hair has a relaxer in it.?

Do I need to let my relaxer grow out? What the best way to start dreads and how do you take care of them? Right now my hair has a relaxer in it.?
dud..i want to make them too..first, i hope you understand that dreads are not only a new ';look'; but the new way of living..you must know that not all people like them.....many of them thinks they are filthy and.....but, i'm not interested in that kind of ';people';...about making them...you must first choose witch type of dreads do you want cause there are many...and you must know if your hare texture is write to do them(hope is). when you want dreads you should keep your hare as clean as possible! you don't want buggies in your hair or something like that....but you shouldn't wash your hare with ordinary shampoo!!! that is the worst for the dreads!! in time they will look.....bljuh....go to the dreadhead and you will find everything you want to know....oh,and one more thing....neglect dreads are he worst type of them...(the way to do them is just not to wash your hair or anything....in that case, those ';people'; are write about them being filthy..) i think somebody with neglect dreads don't deserve them at all. the best thing will be your friend help you with dreads cause if you're going to make them your self you'll get sore hands and it will take more time....put on some Reggie music, ';invite'; your friend and start them.....and thank your buddy cause he/she is in worst position,hehe...luck!! best wishes! dreadgirlWhat the best way to start dreads and how do you take care of them? Right now my hair has a relaxer in it.?
a relaxer never grows out, as your new hair grows in the relaxer part will break off because of the different textures. you can either go to the salon to have them do it, or you can start them with coils, two strand twist, or kinky twist with synthetic hair. if you do not wish to cut your real hair it is best to start with two strand or kinky twist. with the two strand twist as your new growth grows in you just twist that hair in one direction, as you would if you were retwisting dreads, you get your relaxed ends trimmed gradually as your hair grows in. kinky twists are the same way, except you keep the kinky twist in until you have the desired lock length you are most comfortable with, then you take the twists out and cut off all of the relaxed hair. to start with coils you will have to have all of your relaxed hair off

Should I reapply my hair relaxer today?

I'm an African American female and yesterday I applied a relaxer and left if on for about 20 minutes. I did not use all the activator and the relaxer did not take well? Should I reapply it today?Should I reapply my hair relaxer today?
Nope wait for at least a month then apply it first to the new growth and the apply it on the rest hair at the last 2 to 5max (this is really damaging though) an then rinse the hair and shampoo 3 times on the 3rd shampoo leave the neutralizing shampoo for 5 min. After 3 days do a protein treatment like ion reconstructor or loreal hair fixer (sallys).Good luck.Should I reapply my hair relaxer today?
no that will be too harsh

wait a month before you do that

in the meanwhile you can straighten you hair with blow dryer and a flat ironer

But remember to put hair protecter to protect the hair from heat

Remember african american hair is the most fragile so be careful

maybe you can rethink putting a relaxer
No, that will damage your hair badly. Wait at least a couple months before trying to re-apply one.In the mean time, use a flat iron or a big round brush and blow dry and get a heat protector to apply before doing it.
it would be to hard on your hair. I would wait a few weeks at least...

I wanted to know if i can use African American hair straightener or relaxer on my hair?

Im filipino and I got my hair straightened chemically like a couple months ago. So its straight for now but its gonna start getting wavy and poofy soon.

I wanted to know if i can use hair straightener or relaxer that African Americans use to make their hair straight or is it to strong and mess up my hair? My hair is kinda course and dryish.I wanted to know if i can use African American hair straightener or relaxer on my hair?
DONT do it yourself. You could wind up with broken hair all over the place. Wavy hair is so pretty, why are you fighting it?I wanted to know if i can use African American hair straightener or relaxer on my hair?
products for african american hair is made to be strong because the hair type is very resistant to chemicals but yet very fragile. do not use this on your hair because it will literally melt the hair off your head. The chemical in relaxers like that contain sodium hydroxide (the same chemical that is in nair)... go to a salon and let them do it.
OKay first of all its not just AFRICAN AMERICANS

    its called a relaxer

my friend whom is Dominican uses it too

Relaxers come in different strengths. You may be able to use a mild relaxer. Try the phytospecific line of products. It is for all hair types. Visit a hair salon that provides relaxer services.

I would like to wear my hair natural without any relaxers.will my hair break off if i do that?

Yes your hair will break off. As stated in an earlier answer your hair will be 2 textures and w/o relaxer the straight hair will start to tangle and break, the best thing will be to cut the relaxed hair off or wear braids until your natural hair grows to the desired length.I would like to wear my hair natural without any relaxers.will my hair break off if i do that?
';NOOOO relaxers is what makes your hair break off

way better naturalI would like to wear my hair natural without any relaxers.will my hair break off if i do that?
Transitions are often stressful to the hair. If your hair is already relaxed, the point where the relaxed hair and the natural hair meet is very weak. Be careful when combing and styling.
nope not at all. but its always good to be carefull.
You are going to have to take into consideration how you will transition your hair. The hair will be two different textures. Are you going to press the roots with a hot comb or are you going to cut off the ends of your hair that are chemically relaxed. I experimented with natural hair about 2 years ago. I wore micros until my natural hair was at the length that I wanted it. Then I eventually cut off the chemically relaxed hair. There are two really nice websites with message boards for African hair. Check out the links.
No way!!! It'll be totally fine.
As long as you go easy on the heat, and make sure to keep it moisturized. Not grease, but a nice light moisturizer.

Has anyone tried Hawaiian Silky Hair Relaxer?

It is a good brand, one thats been around a while so it is perfected. It is one of the only relaxers on the market that has conditioners in it so the effects are not as damaging, and any one with a medium to coarse texture can use it. If you are planning to use it on your hair, timing is everything, five to ten minutes will loosen a curl, but fifteen to twenty will completely straighten. If your hair is short you can comb it through with a large tooth comb and get the same effects as an ';s'; curl.

Make sure you buy the shampoo and conditioner of the same brand to use immediatedly after.

any answers helpStylists be honest, are RELAXERS really bad for african american hair?
Yes they are, anything that changes the hair structure is. You just need to use the right maintenance products. But it's a choice some make.Stylists be honest, are RELAXERS really bad for african american hair?
Anytime you use any chemical on your hair, whether it's a perm, color or relaxer it's compromising the the strength of the hair. If I had to pick between the three I would say that relaxers do tend to be probably the harshest of the three.

You may want to treat your hair with protein treatments. Consult your stylist, she'll know something to recommend.
they arn't, in moderation. a good rule of thumb is to never put apermanentt on top of anotherpermanentt or else you will have breakage.
Relaxers are bad for ANY type of hair. Anything to do with Chemicals is damaging.

Black hair question::: relaxers after a year!?

I want to get a relaxer again and i washed my hair today(wednesday) would it be bad to get one this weekend?? and since i havent had one in a year should will it break my hair off?Black hair question::: relaxers after a year!?
As long as you wait at least 24 hours after washing or scratching your head then you should be fine. The reason for this is because doing those things opens your pores and will make the relaxer burn your head - which can cause serious scalp and hair damage. If you still have relaxed hair on your head then don't overlap that hair with the relaxer because it can fall out. If you don't have any relaxed hair on your head then it's okay to put the relaxer completely through your hair. If your hair dresser is a good hair dresser and knows what she's doing then you should be fine.Black hair question::: relaxers after a year!?
yes and chemicals are bad. Why do want to put a chemcial fire cream in your hair for??? your natural afro textured hair looks way better than limped str8 hair. i posting a link at the bottom, check these sites out.

Is chemical straightening as damaging to hair as a relaxer?

I want to use a relaxer on my hair because my hair is pretty curly and frizzy, it鈥檚 not that long just a couple of inches, is relaxing your hair as damaging as the chemical straightening?? Cause if it is I might as well chemically straighten it鈥?Is chemical straightening as damaging to hair as a relaxer?
Relaxing is chemical straightening. Do you mean flat ironing VS relaxing? they can both be damaging, but relaxing is more so. Even if you take good care of your hair the harsh relaxer chemicals will eventually take a toll and your hair will break. Chemicals also leave your hair weaker and more prone to breakage. People who relax experience constant breakage that keeps their hair from reaching very long lengths. Is chemical straightening as damaging to hair as a relaxer?
Relaxing is chemical straightening but i have no problems with it,I actually relax my hair myself and i have long hair.I just apply the relaxer to my roots only. But for your first time the relaxer has to be applied to the whole head.If you need any tips or more information You can watch ladies relaxing their hair on youtube and you can always contact a stylist.

it's worth it but make sure you get a good salon. let it be a lil expensive but it's worth it. I touch up the roots every 4 to 5 months :D

    Hair advices? (relaxers and creams)?

My hair is not straight (wavy) and is so hard to brush, I wanna have nice soft and straight hair that I can brush easily and have different haircuts.

I had my hair relaxed like 7 months ago, it was good but it didn't last for too long (3-4 months) then it came back to its original look, and recently I had my hair relaxed again (like 2 weeks ago) and was not satisfied with the results (it's better than before but still not as good as the first time) although I used a powerful and expensive product last time, when I have a shower my hair becomes very nice, straight and soft but when it dries out it gets back to being ';not so good';.

I'm thinking about using a cream to make it straight and soft, the salesman told me my hair would be straight after I use it til I have a shower (which happes everyday), I'm fine with that as long as I walk on the street with nice hair.

Any suggestion? should I have it relaxed again? if I should, what kind of products do you advise me to use this time?

Or should I just use that cream?

Do such products (relaxes and creams) have any side-effects?

    thanksHair advices? (relaxers and creams)?
salon relaxers always end with the best results - light, straight, sleek and moving. but in general, you should relax your hair every six weeks.

I use the Motion's shampoo and conditioner - orange/yellow bottle, purple cap. These moisture intensive products work great for me. However once it dries you should follow up with a moisturizer (Optimum Care iol moisturizer in yellow bottle, or Hair Food - a yellow grease that, used sparingly, works wonders) and straightening if you straighten your hair.

washing your hair, if you have coarse hair, every day is not a good idea. it strips down the natural oils from your hair that protect it from weather and sun. while you don't want your hair oily and dirty, you don't want it stripped and brittle either. wash at least once a week, but no more than twice a week. and when you're in the shower and not washing yor hair, cover it with a plastic cap;; if your hair gets wet, the water as it dries will dry your hair out, taking moisture with it as it evaporates.

hope it helped just a little :)Hair advices? (relaxers and creams)?
I would recommend you to use Olive Oil, I'm wearing it right now. After you straight your hair, or take a shower (or even if you don't straight it) apply it. It'll make your hair shiny-er, silkier, and smoother :) hope i helped!
I am a Curly Girl! I love natural hair %26amp; I shun relaxers b/c they have done nothing but ruin my hair :( my opinion will be biased. I suggest coconut oil...it is one of if not the only oil that the hair shaft absorbs. Also shea butter is great on the hair. make sure both are 100% pure %26amp; organic (coconut oil) If you need style ideas check out curlynikki.com I love her site she is a natural curly girl too and she post pics and reviews on different hair products, styles, etc. I hope I was helpful...good luck

Does getting a hair relaxer damage your hair?

i have really, puffy, curly hair and i hate it...i want to be able to use my hair without having to add any gel or hairspray. I heard that hair relaxers really work but i also heard they damage your hair. What should i do?Does getting a hair relaxer damage your hair?
    they do work:

they make you're hair straight [= you get them about once every 2 weeks.

over time they do damage your hair =/ my mom's hair is very damaged from it now (she's 52) . it makes it thinner/and can even fall out =[

if you already have sensitive hair, i suggest not using it because very sensitive hair can be damaged even the first time quite drastically! =O such as falling out.

good luck! :DDoes getting a hair relaxer damage your hair?
Yes. Your putting chemicals on your hair, that breaks the bond of your hair. It's actually quite damaging.

If you get a relaxer, You'll still have to flat iron it. Personally, I would just use a straightner, and forget chemicals. I got a relaxer, and it didn't do much to my hair.

well if you're going to the salon for like a re-touch/touch-up you really should refrain from using the comb to close to the scalp for at least 48 hours before the scheduled time of the relaxer... if the comb makes repeated contact with scalp, or if you scratch the scalp, your scalp is going to really burn upon application of the relaxer... then you're have scabs in your scalp or sometimes dryness... the best thing for you to do would just be to lightly grease the scalp the night before going to get the relaxerIs it bad to comb your hair before a relaxer? (Black women are encouraged to answer)?
Yes it's bad because you can irritated the scalp which can lead to burning. Just detangle it as gently as possible.

Are you suppose to wash your hair before a relaxer?

    I've heard conflicting reports.

I've been told that you're not suppose to workout, take a shower or wash your hair before you get a relaxer because it opens your pores and makes your scalp burn easier and faster.

But then Oprah says that you should wash your hair before a relaxer so you can truly see where the new growth is and not go over the already relaxed hair.

I had washed my hair the day before and got chemical burns. :(Are you suppose to wash your hair before a relaxer?
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Don't wash your hair before a relaxer! You can't listen to everything Oprah says, the stylist should be able to tell the difference between the natural hair growth at the roots and the relaxed hair at the ends.

You shouldn't wash your hair at least 2 days prior to getting your relaxer.I've also gotten chemical burns before and it's not a nice experience.Save yourself a lot of pain and please don't wash your hair.Good Luck! Are you suppose to wash your hair before a relaxer?
noooooooooo omg no! your scalp is going to be on FIRE!
A light shampoo is OK....just don't scrub the scalp...Oprah is right, that line of demarcation is very important to the outcome of the next relaxer.....A light shampoo will get out most of the styling products and give you a good view of the line of demarcation
Yeah, your supposed to wash your hair before a relaxer.

Is there a hair relaxer for hispanics?

I'm hispanic and I want to try a hair relaxer because if i don't straight iron my hair its PUFFFY and wavy !. Is there a hair relaxer for hispanics ? does it matter ? , please and thank you !Is there a hair relaxer for hispanics?
Just use baby relaxers (Just For Me, etc) but leave it on for HALF the time recommended. That's what I do. Hair is hair, but I assume your hair is not as nappy a black people, though some Hispanics have a lot of black in them so I don't know. Just leave it on 7 minutes and you should be fine.Is there a hair relaxer for hispanics?
try freebeautytips.devhub.com they have all kinds of beauty advice
The ethinicity doesn't really matter when using relaxers.

I use Dr. Miracle, you could try that. It's in CVS if you have one near you.
You can Japanese straighten it. Search it online.
There really is not a separate relaxers for just Hispanics. I suggest you go to an African American salon and have someone evaluate your hair type.

    Hope this Helps!!!

Can you perm a straighten (using relaxer) hair?

I had my hair straighten using the relaxer method about a month ago but I don't really like how it turns out. I wanted to get my hair curly/wavy now, will a perm do?Can you perm a straighten (using relaxer) hair?
No, no, no...not if you want your hair on your head. Your hair will be in the sink, floor, tub...it will fall out, I promise you. You have to wait until your relaxer GROWS out, to be able to get a perm/soft curl. Can you perm a straighten (using relaxer) hair?
it depends on your hair texture if ur an african american girl then a perm will starighten ur hair even more but if u have straight hair already trust me any hair type perms will in the end ruin ur hair...

it happened to me and the wrost thing 2 do is put chemicals in your hair....
    NO

never get your hair chemically treated it breaks up your hair i should know it happened to me so now i use flat irons an curling irons

Black hair: If you have always used relaxers, Is it a bad idea to go blonde??

This is extremely damaging to the hair to double process it. You could it up with hair that feels gummy or slimy when wet, and when dry will be extremely dry and brittle that will cause breakage. Hair stylists do not recommend that this is done. Black hair has pigment that is very hard to remove. More than one bleaching is needed or as one answerer wrote, you would possibly end up with bright orange hair that looks like straw.Black hair: If you have always used relaxers, Is it a bad idea to go blonde??
Very Bad Idea.Black hair looks so good.I have black hair too and I just love the color.Don't go blonde. It doesn't suit people who originally have black hair.Black hair: If you have always used relaxers, Is it a bad idea to go blonde??
Very bad idea. Your hair will be soo over-processed/chemicalised and it will always look dry and crispy even with lots of conditioning/hair oil. When was the last time you saw a black girl with relaxed, blonde hair that looked nice and healthy???!?!???
yea i think it's not a good ideas but if you wnat it done get it done by a hair stylist in a good salon not just any salon a good one
ignore that girl, your hair doesnt fall out, it just becomes badly damaged and breaks a lot!

i wouldnt die it yourself, my hairs dark drown and with like 9 times of bleaching it just stayed yellow,

get the hairdressers to do it, and while you're there u might need ur eyebrows done too!
Its only a bad idea if you want to KEEP your hair. Dont DO IT girlfriend, too much toxins on ur hair, it will damage it beyond repair and it WILL fall out, im NOT lol'ing....then ull have to wait till new hair grows in. been there, dont that, got the tshirt, save urself while u can!!!!!!!
If you get it professionally done it should be okay, but I have a friend with really dark hair that tried to go blonde using a box and her hair ended up bright orange!

  • What is the best relaxer for hair after taking out braids?

I suggest that you let your hair rest before putting any relaxers on your hair....I'm assuming that you probably used synthetic hair, so your hair probably has not seen an air for a while and has been constricted amongst those fibers....so with the build up of oils/sprays/whatever your hair is really weak now. Adding a relaxer will only make it weaker. Wait about another week or two before putting one on. If this is your first time relaxing your hair (yuck....don't do it but if you must :..-P)--do a strand test first to make sure that your hair wont react badly!Use ';gentle treatment: regular strength';, or if you want to go natural try a mild relaxer (Luster's). And if you want you can always go natural, or keep your hair in some cornrows which is kinder...not as harsh as individual braids. Please visit my website and if your in AZ I'll hook you up: http://www.mambono.com/sites/zoe

    Hair color & relaxers?

how long after or befor a relaxer should i put color in my hairHair color %26amp; relaxers?
Usually three weeks. If its your first relaxer than give it six weeks. Make sure you keep your scalp oiled and ends trimmed and dont apply too much heat to your hair. It can cause it to be brittle and break off. Dont style it too much after the first week of getting it colored. Your hair will need time to get used to the color and might be a little weak.Hair color %26amp; relaxers?
I would definitely suggest waiting about 4 wks to color relaxed hair. I recommend coloring after the relaxer because it will pull color out of your hair and lighten it anyway, so you would possibly be defeating the purpose. You can put a non-permanent color rinse (like Beautiful Browns) on your hair the day you relax. If you put it on and sit under a dryer after you relax it and rinse, it will have similar effects as permanant hair color. The relaxer is going to open the hair cuticle and the heat will push the color into the hair.
If you want a rinse that last a while, there is a perm that they have that has a rinse in the box along with the perm....it's awesome. My bestfriend used it and it was pretty as hell. The perm also makes your hair silky and straight too.
    3 weeks

I workout a lot and my hair sweats a lot I am tried of braids do not want relaxers (don't hold) please help

I really want my hair to grow and stop braking off. I miss having straight hair styles. I also suffer with very dry hair and flaks.I workout a lot and my hair sweats a lot I am tried of braids do not want relaxers (don't hold) please help
Hair does not sweat. I think you must mean that YOU sweat a lot, and therefore find that you have to shampoo often.

You may be over-shampooing your hair. If it's only sweat, you may not need to use shampoo, but a good rinse. Or use only a very small amount of product, since you can over-do it.

Relaxers always work... when done properly. It may be that your hair is just too weak to completely process to get it straight, or there are other reasons. Trust your hair professional to do it correctly. And you should ask lots of questions to be sure you are getting what you want. If it cannot be done, that should be explained to you.

If you are going to try growing your hair longer, you need to really take lots of extra-special care of it. You won't be cutting off the damaged ends now, so you want to be sure it's absolutely the very best condition so that it will stay with you for a longer time, and will be longer hair.I workout a lot and my hair sweats a lot I am tried of braids do not want relaxers (don't hold) please help
    Maybe u should get a texturizer .

How about my hair, will a relaxer damage it?

I have CRAZYY curly hair and I have been told by several people that a relaxer will just damage it. Does anyone know the truth about putting a relaxer in my hair? Will it damage it, or just relax it?How about my hair, will a relaxer damage it?
For some people if they relax there hair (doesn't matter who does it) it will fall out or not grow at all. Its best to keep your hair natural because relaxers and texurizurs may damage your hair and stop growing. I know some people with shoulder Length hair and they have perms and there hair never grows because and it stays shoulder length. How about my hair, will a relaxer damage it?
I have the same hair type and i do get a relaxer about every 2 to 3 months and the results are amazing!!! my hair is so straight and its perfect. i guess it only depends where you get it and who does it.. i go to pr @ partners and i get my hair done by the manager whose daughter has really curly hair also, so she knows how to work with it
i relaxed my hair a few months ago, i am mixed with crazy curly hair and did some damage, my boyfriend was mad. if you do want to do it go to a salon
i ahve the same problem and it murders your hair the areas that i relaxed havent grown for 3 years (no more than an inch)

What do relaxers do to your hair?

    Straighten it...

It breaks down the amino acids in the hair and in the process of breaking it down there is then a neutralizer applied to re bond the amino acids in a straight form depending on how strong of a relaxer is used and can straighten your hair permanently.

NOT on new hair growth it will not grow out straight.

If not applied correctly can seriously damage hair to the extent of breakage and fallout. It is potentially the MOST damaging application to hair so make sure you trust who is applying the relaxer.

Depending on your hair type depends the extent of dryness your hair suffers, you should deep condition it no matter what type you have. What do relaxers do to your hair?
relaxer is an agressive chemical which is use to straighten the hair or to lessen curl in the hair. it depend what a person is going for.

a person who normally bleach or color their hair should not get relaxer because bleach and the ingredient in the relaxer cause instant breakage.

relaxer leaves the hair dry. you need a retouch every 5 weeksWhat do relaxers do to your hair?
They are chemicals that force the hair to relax. Overuse can really damage your hair. Certain cultures have hair that is better suited to the relaxers (like African American hair). Still they have to condition, etc. so the hair doesn't break. If you have white bread hair I would just straighten your hair every now and then with a good 'ole fashion blow dryer and brush.
    it relaxes it
they make your hair texture more manageable %26amp; straighter.

it dries out your hair so you have to deep condition it alot.
relaxers are a type of perm, you smooth your hair so it stays straight

  • Are relaxers bad for African american hair?

Ive getting my hair relaxed since i was maybe 5 and Ive continued having it done every 2 1/2 to 3 months is it okAre relaxers bad for African american hair?
yes, it is bad for your hair and bad for your body in general. That is why you are not supposed to get them while you are pregnant. Because you are exposing yourself and the baby to harmful chemicals. Some of them are possibly carcinogenic.

Have you ever notcied that the majority of elderly black women wear wigs. Why do you think that is?Are relaxers bad for African american hair?
well... i get my hair relaxed every 6 weeks and nothing has gone wrong with my hair. well look at it this way...when i get my hair relaxed, i get the sensitive relaxer, if i ever were to get regular, my hair would burn. so, its all about choosing the right one for you and your hair.
Why the heck did you get a relaxer at 5 and how old are you now?

Yes. Any time you put a chemical somewhere on something allowing it to change it's natural state it's bad. Make sure you get it done by someone competent, and make sure you take care of it, wash it, moisturize it as you should and you'll be okay.
I get my hair relaxed every 6 weeks too. You have to just get your ends clipped, too, so that it won't look crazy. I don't think children at the age of 5 need a perm, it isn't good for their hair. I got one at a young age, and my hair was falling out. Just do it every 2 months (8 weeks) and you should be okay. keep it moisturized, but not too greasy because it can clog your hair follicles, which can be bad... good luck!
the only time it's really bad is when the relaxer is overlapped too long. it should be left on the new growth only at first...make sure u condition it well and just continue to take care of ur hair
It depends on what kind of relaxers they get and how many. I know that I used to get a relaxer every month. It really depends on the person's hair.
No! you just have to keep them up. Or keep your hair straight because knappy hair is hard to comb or brush. Its more likely tio break off and keep it moisturized. You cant leave it in too long of course a great alternative is to get you hair pressed with a hot comb. but the thing with that is that you cant use any moisture in your hair or else it will get poofy faster.
well, it will dammage it some because it is a chemical, and african american hair is usually fragile and prone to breakage. If you did decide to go au nautural it would give your hair a break, but if that is not an option, some opt for braids, although that can be so tight on your scalp that it is uncomfortable. I'd say get a good conditioner for african american hair. Some of my friends really like that stuff called motions. You can also do the cholesteral, mayonaise, or olive oil and avocado treatments. Check with the beauty supply store for good conditioner/ and repair products.
It's not good. With proper maintanence you should be fine.

Are there any other ways to straighten your hair besides a relaxer?

i think that relaxers are starting to irritate my scalp, is there anyone who has experience with this and know any other ways to keep my hair managable. Are there any other ways to straighten your hair besides a relaxer?
Well i suggest trying a milder strength of relaxer b4 counting them out all together. its hard on the hair to go from relaxed to completey natural.....this will cause breakage. I suggest trying a sensative scalp relaxer put in by a proffesional, or a texturizer (to soften your new growth without completey straightenin it) also put in by a proffesional. Are there any other ways to straighten your hair besides a relaxer?
Well you can just buy a straightener or use an iron!!!
use the Chi Hair iron...its the bomb
    a flat iron
Well i would use a flat iron to straighten out your hair. But remember to use a moisterizer to protect your hair from the damage from the heat!
You can use a hair dryer and large round brush to straighten your hair, but it takes a while, and the results only last until you wash your hair.
I agree use a ceramic iron .I don't know about straigteners but with color you can put a paket of artificial sweetner in it to reduce irritation (the pink one) Anyways straightners are supposed to be applied 1/2 an inch off the scalp.Ouch
    yes use a flat iron.
You can use a flat iron or an Iron comb

How long should I wait to put corn-rolls in my hair after a relaxer?

I currently have corn-rolls in my hair and I am going to get a relaxer put in tonight and hopefully get corn-rolls put back in my hair Friday night. Will that be too soon? How long should I wait to put corn-rolls in my hair after a relaxer?
No Im afraid not. When you get it chemically relaxed you cant wash it for about two days. After those two days you can wash it but for an amount of two whole weeks you need to leave it as it is for it to settle in really good. How long should I wait to put corn-rolls in my hair after a relaxer?
2 weeks you want it to look fresh and neat and it last long

How long until I can wash my hair after a relaxer?

I am getting a relaxer tomorrow after work at 600pm and want to get it washed, set, blown out and have two tracks put in on Friday afternoon (130pm) for a weekend trip out of town. Will this be okay or will it mess up my relaxer? How long until I can wash my hair after a relaxer?
Everybody's hair is different...especially our hair. I think you should be fine the relaxer chemical changes the hairs texture. So the only way to ruin a perm is to put another chemical on your hair too soon or get your hair wet without blow drying and flat ironing after.

Hope this helps :)How long until I can wash my hair after a relaxer?
depends, if your doing it your self then you don't need to wash it 3 days after you get a relaxer,it will mess up your hair and make it frizzy.but if your going to the salon, they usually wash your hair after they give you a relaxer when your hair is still wet.
    usually its 24-48 hours

What's the best hair relaxer for women with kinky hair?

I have used so many at home relaxers over the span of my hairs' life since teenagehood and the best one that works for me is Soft Sheen's Optimum. I absolutely love it. No breakage. Good luck! What's the best hair relaxer for women with kinky hair?
I forgot what the brand is called. But they have it at Walmart. Where all the home perm kits are. Right next is a home straightner I used it and it relaxed my very curly hair ^^

Hope I helpedWhat's the best hair relaxer for women with kinky hair?
motions! even though my hair is natural now, i still use it on the new growth for about five minutes. it relaxes my natural curl. but if you want your hair bone straight (boooo), it'll do that too. check a beauty supply store where you can get a tub of it (nothing to mix together) and don't forget your neutralizing shampoo!
    Try Revlon Realistic (Super Formula)

    Hawaiian Silky (Super)

    Dr. Miracles (Super)

    Luster's Pink Relaxer (Super)

Only use super if your hair is not colored treated.
hmmm I like kinky women with kinky hair
There are several good relaxers on the market today. You can try Bone-Straight Super hair relaxer if your hair is extremely kinky, but if moderately kinky try Bone-Straight regular relaxer..Or you could try African-Pride it comes in super and regular formula also. Or try fabu-laxer or Optima or Bantu or Ultra Sheen, or Precise, Gentle Treatment, all the above come in a regular or super formula and are no-lye relaxers and if you only want a taming try one of those relaxers designed for children they also come in regular and super formula's. All the above relaxers come with their own accessories too, shampoo, conditioner, style aids. good look with your hair

Should I be using a hair relaxer?

Should I be using A hair relaxer? My hair is SO damaged its brittle and super dry.My hair is frizzy and curly but its not kinky also my hair is not thick or thin its kinda in between. My ethnicity is Black And Filipino please help me do I need to use A relaxer?Should I be using a hair relaxer?
No if your hair is brittle and really dry do not get a relaxer... make sure you moisturize it everyday or every other day to get it moisturized... There are texturizers that are better for your hair to make it easier to manage and comb thru. considering that you are black and filibino and your hair is not nappy i think that if anything a texturizer would be ok. But embrace your hair and get deep conditioning treatments to make your dry brittle hair healthier before you put ANY chemicals in it. :) good luckShould I be using a hair relaxer?
No, you just need a hair conditioner

What would be a good hair relaxer for a little girl age 4.?

Her mom doed not want to use chemicals but wants to make it a little managable to comb through, it is extremly curly and thick. What would be a good hair relaxer for a little girl age 4.?
they sell sprays that u just spray in and comb one is called top 10 in blue bottle and there is one for kids something about an octopus What would be a good hair relaxer for a little girl age 4.?
Why doesn't she just get it cut so it's manageable? =/

I don't know a lot about curly and thick hair, but I do know for straight hair, you can get it thinned. I'm pretty sure you'd be able to do the same or something similar for curly hair.
WELL THERE IS A PERM CALLED JUST FOR ME SO IDK BUT THAT IS WHAT I USED WHEN I WAS JUST LIKE 3 MY HAIR WAS LIKE THAT AND UHM I THINK THAT IS THE BEST ONE
use a texturizer it has less chemicals then like a perm

and it gets the hair well managed

What is the best semi-permanent hair straightener / curl relaxer and what will it do for my hair?

I have wavy, frizzy hair shoulder length hair that looks terrible if I do not blow-dry it; which takes at least 40 minutes to do. What can I do to make my hair look decent without having to always tie it back as it is very time consuming to blow-dry every day. I would love to be able to some days just wash and go.What is the best semi-permanent hair straightener / curl relaxer and what will it do for my hair?
There aren't semi-permanent chemical straighteners. When you chemically straighten your hair, it's permanent until it grows out and is cut off. Find a salon that does the CHI straightening system, but I warn you, it's expensive. It's the best, though. What is the best semi-permanent hair straightener / curl relaxer and what will it do for my hair?
There is not such a thing as semi permanent relaxer. All relaxers are permanent.
all relaxers are permannent there is no semi permanent and also you need to stop blow drying every day ok

I usually washed my hair about 3 days after I got a touch-up, when it was time to wash out the hairstyle and gel/spritz. Sometimes I washed it the very next day if I didn't like the hairstyle or hated the stickiness from the spritz that was used. It didn't do anything to my hair. You have to apply heat, like a flat iron or curling iron to get it straight again. Just mind the heat so you don't get heat damage. But, anytime you wash or get your hair wet then it can poof and frizz. You can't wash a relaxer out of your hair, so you're okay, it's just that it won't look fresh unless you flat iron it after washing. Also, notice that after your beautician washes your hair she uses heat in some form (blow dryer, curling iron, hooded dryer, flat iron, etc) - this is to get the ends straight, the roots will be straight because of the relaxer, but the ends will be poofy and frizzy without heat. This is normal. How long until I can wash my hair after a relaxer?
A week. It's good to wash your hair every 2 weeks if your hair doesn't get dry easily or coarse. Some people think every has to wash their hair everyday, but that invites lice. If your hair gets flaky from dandruff use natural oils and scalp treatments. But washing your hair after a relaxer, wait at least a week or two. Two weeks is good since it's a fresh relaxer.
You will be fine. You want to wait at least 3 days to shampoo after any kind of chemical straightening (or perming.) If you are still concerned, you can always ask your stylist and they should give you the answers to any questions you have.
wait a week i usually wait a month and my grows a inch long every month if i oil it

Why have you asked this question so many times??????I have an assingment on find the different types of hair relaxer and some info?
    Who invented the relaxer?

Garrett Augustus Morgan around 1910 stumbled upon what would become his contribution to hair care products.

While working in a sewing machine repair shop attempting to invent a new lubricating liquid, Morgan wiped his hands on a wool cloth., returned the next day and found the woolly textured of the cloth smooth out. Then he tried it on his Airedale dog, (known for curly textured hair) and the effect was successfully duplicated.

Morgan then tried his lubricating liquid on himself, called it a ';hair refining cream';, and thus patented the first chemical hair straightener.

The are three types of relaxers.

Sodium Hydroxide is the strongest type of chemical used.

Comes in Mild, Regular, and Super Strenghts.

Guanidine Hydroxide is the mildest. It's really known as a no-lye relaxer. Comes in Mild, Regular, and Super Strenghts.

Ammoniumthiglycolate, which requires a pre-shampooing before applying .
TCB no lye/no mix relaxer- straightens african american women hair, made with olive, aloe, and henna.

Lusters Pink Smooth Touch New Growth Relaxer Kit, Super Formula- super means it is for coarse hair, straightens african american women hair, not recommend or bleached hair, comes in regular, medium and super formula.

Does the ';hawaian silky'; hair relaxer works good on thick, coarse hair?

I have thick, coarse long hair, been off a relaxer for 2 years now. my past relaxers was fiberguard+affirm and vital.Does the ';hawaian silky'; hair relaxer works good on thick, coarse hair?
I am a hair stylist in Los Angeles. I would suggest sticking with Affirm relaxer. It's made for sensitive scalps and to me, it works the best.Does the ';hawaian silky'; hair relaxer works good on thick, coarse hair?
I used to use hawaiian silky. I had no problem with it. Just make sure you are not only over processing. Only put on new growth. That is key. and a good conditioner and neuralizer after. Good luck!
umm dik about hawaian silky but my hair stylist uses proclaim on my hair and not to be a rasicst butmy hair comes out like white people hair

Has a hair relaxer killed someone before?

Ok this is a little funny but I'm kinda of having a dispute with my roommate about using perms. Her hair is very damaged and will not grow, yet she keeps using relaxers because she feels as though there is nothing wrong with relaxers. I want to prove that relaxers are dangerous. So please tell me if a hair relaxer has ever killed someone....Has a hair relaxer killed someone before?
It could certainly kill you if you ate it. It could also cause second degree burns and blindness.

If you want to give your roommate a visual of what she is now doing to her hair, have her watch you use Nair to remove the hair on your legs. The two both have the same active ingredients (some sort of strong base, Ca(OH)2, NaOH-lye, etc.) and pretty much work the same way. You are denaturing (breaking the bonds) a protein, either to the point where the cuticle of the hair hangs limp (straight) or the point where it is completely disintegrated (hair removal).

Relaxing damaged hair is pointless. It is already broken down; the only thing that you can do at that point is to cut it off. If she insists that she wants a relaxer (it is her choice), she should know that she should ONLY have it done (ESPECIALLY THE TOUCHUPS) by a competent professional.Has a hair relaxer killed someone before?
omg nooo lol a hair relaxer has never killed anyone.... the only thing it will do that is damaging at ALL is damage her hair. esp if her hair is already damaged and she keeps using relaxers on it. this could break off a lot of her hair. and when you use a relaxer, the next time you do it you just put it on the newgrowth and using it on the whole head can cause even more damage
Not unless that have an allergic reaction to the chemicals. She needs to change her hair care routine if her hair is damaged, she could cut back on the relaxing, but she has to have other bad habits contributing.
I have never heard of anyone die frome that, but my husband use to

use them and it did the same thing to his hair . I recamend eather stop useing them or get something else that is not so harsh.
Hair Chemicals aren't THAT Dangerous. Only for the hair.

  • Which is more damaging to natural hair, straightening with a pressing comb or relaxers?

If you put a relaxer on your hair it won't be natural anymore. A relaxer works by permanently changing the protein bonds in your hair. Many women suffer scalp burns from relaxers, and damaged hair from the harsh chemicals. If you use a pressing comb using the proper techniques ( low temperature, don't use it everyday, detangle your hair before running the comb through it) your hair will not be damaged, and you can revert back to a textured style any time you want to. For more tips on pressing hair, visit http://pressing-hair.infoWhich is more damaging to natural hair, straightening with a pressing comb or relaxers?
If you want straight hair and can't afford to do Keratin straightning, i would go for a relaxer.

Because using a heated comb daily will sustain more damage to your hair than doing a relaxer or keratin once every 4-6 months.Which is more damaging to natural hair, straightening with a pressing comb or relaxers?
anything done inappropriately will be damaging. I know people who have had relaxers and press and curls for years and have long healthy hair, so get what works best for your lifestyle and location.

I've always put relaxers in my hair want my natural waves but....?

I want my natural waves or curls but i've never taken care of it, i don't know how. Its thick and frizzy and hard to manage. It starts out all wavey and curly then gets straight after about 3 or 4 inches. What the hell do i do? but i don't want to cut it because i don't look good with short hair. The only thing i've ever really done is put it in braids with oil and water then when its dry i take it out and run my fingers through it.I've always put relaxers in my hair want my natural waves but....?

Any good hair products to stop breakage for hair with a relaxer?

I usually use head and shoulders with queen helena and it usually works pretty good. But I ran out. Should I try something new? Any types of mineral oils to stop breakage in dry flaky hair?Any good hair products to stop breakage for hair with a relaxer?
so try this...regular trims are a must, about every 7-9 weeks. if its been awhile since you have had a trim then inches may be called for to get to healthy hair. i use vitamin e on fresh washed hair.(its a vitamin that can be purchased where you buy vitamins, cut open capsule, squeeze into hand, rub hands together and apply to hair) dont message into scalp. if you get too much then just rewash it. hair will feel slightly sticky until dry then it will be nice and soft. it tames the frizzies, deep conditions and makes hair grow about three in a month. it takes about a month for the e to kick in. dont brush your hair but maybe once a week to message the scalp, i use a wide tooth comb at other times. brushing breaks off hair. i just started biotin vitamins two months ago this sat and notice and big growth spurt from that. biotin is cheap. i also have the biotin shampoo that i got from a vitamin store online. five bucks for a big bottle and a big bottle of E is about 8 bucks. the biotin is about 3 bucks. good luckAny good hair products to stop breakage for hair with a relaxer?
Its the head and shoulders, neutrogena t-gel, selson blue, etc... that is killing your hair/black hair, queen helene is a good conditioner but not for regular moisturizing condition. Also, visit a dermatologist if not already, there are prescription products that won't kill black hair. Self treating because we see flakes of skin automatically think dandruff and buy the first product we see, you can actually be covering/exascerbating a different problem.

You need to ';pre-poo'; your hair, essentially prepoo is putting heavy, oil based products on your hair so its not over stripped when washed. A great product is Burt Bee's Avocado Butter Pre Shampoo Treatment, but a lot of people just put olive, coconut, avocado, shea butter oil or hot oil on damp hair ESPECIALLY THE ENDS (any hair past the top of your ears) then seal the oil with a conditioner. Let that sit 20 minutes then wash your hair.

Specifically if you use H%26amp;S regularly you need to only shampoo above your ears/at the root/scalp. Don't know how long your hair is, but since its breaking No piling your hair on your head, squeezing H%26amp;S onto it, then lathering that way!!! Keep the H%26amp;S at your roots/scalp where it is needed!!! If you choose to try prepooing, shampoo the ends with a regular moisturing shampoo to rinse the prepoo away. If you don't prepoo or use a lot of heavy styling products, there is really no reason the shampoo the ends period, aside from if you work somewhere where the scent gets in your hair. But really you should always follow H%26amp;S with a moisturizing/conditioning shampoo I like Motions, Optimum conditioning.

Condition (Motions, Paul Mitchell Supercharged Moisturizer) your hair, obviously, and do a final rinse in cold water to close hair shaft.

A leave in conditioner (QP, Infusium 23) should be added to your routine if you just blow dry to flat iron or roller set your hair (unless you like crisper curls, then skip leave-in). You should also add a daily moisturizer like shea butter, carrot oil cream, mizani H20, NEVER PINK OIL/CREAM. Apply at night, again on the hair below your ears and roll or wrap hair in satin scarf.
Nexxus Emergencee Strengthening Polymeric Reconstructor. Strengthens your hair and stops breakage. It's a bit expensive at about $13.99 but worth every penny. I use this stuff and it works wonders on the first use!
My cousin is a hair stylist and she recommended me to put on olive oil on the tips of my hair an hour before i shower and then wash it off. within weeks i saw good results.

If I use the Just For Me hair relaxer, how long should I wait before washing it? Can I still swim everyday?

    1. I am not half-white, half-black or black, I am white.

    2. I have extremely curly, frizzy hair that is really unmanageable.

    3. I have used this before, and it worked at first, but I washed my hair the morning after getting it relaxed; it was too greasy. If I use the Just For Me hair relaxer, how long should I wait before washing it? Can I still swim everyday?
You should probably wait a couple days before you go swimming, and when you do its best that you wear a swim cap since you've used a chemical relaxer, otherwise you'll have to wash it everyday as well. If you don't want to wear a swim cap, then wet your hair with reg water then put conditioner on your hair to protect it SOME from the salt/chlorine water. Wash immediately after you're finished with water play and deep condition.

If you plan on spending the summer in the water, I would hold on relaxing until school starts again. If I use the Just For Me hair relaxer, how long should I wait before washing it? Can I still swim everyday?
Relaxer is a chemical. If you can't look at your roots yourself to see if the hair is straight, then you can wait until it burns slightly, but even then it could still be unfinished.

I would advise you to not swim for at least a few days, and afterwards you would still have to flat iron to get it back straight. You can wash at a max of every other week, that's what I do and any longer I would feel disgusting. Good luck

Whats the difference between hair relaxer and rebonding?

i have elbow length long wavy, medium (thickenss) hair.

i have heard from people that after rebonding your hair dosent grow back as healthy as before.it damages the hair and after sometime you end up with terrible hair(in 3 or 4 years).so if anyone has a rebonding done please let me know if this is true.

what about relaxers.is it safe? how long does hair relaxer last.Whats the difference between hair relaxer and rebonding?
i usually get relaxers like every 2 months. it rexaxes your curls and gives you straight hair. for most it dry's out your natural texture. so your left with striaght dry hair that needs alot of moisturizing. your new growth is what causes me to get it every two months because the rest of the hair permantly stays straight. if you want straight hair please don;t get a relaxer get a quality ceramic flat iron. its less damage,

im really worried.i have been using vitamin e oil and aloe vera for the past 4days but nothing is really happening.i have never been burnt like this.large areas of my hair are stuck to my scalp. and my scalp is hurting tooI have hair relaxer scalp burn on large areas of my head, they are hard and alot of my hair is stuck?
Go to your doctor. They should be able to help and will give you some special burn cream so you don't have to make do with vitamin e and aloe vera. The prescription stuff will be so much better for you.

Don't try relaxing your hair again any time soon!I have hair relaxer scalp burn on large areas of my head, they are hard and alot of my hair is stuck?
You need to go to a dermatologist not just your regular doctor because they may have a littel more knowledge as to what to do. I had the same thing happen to me and unfortunatly your hair may fall out. I had to get steriod injection in the area for my hair to grow back. If you went to a salon and got your hair done you need to go back to them and have them pay for your doctors visits.

How do I straighten my hair without a relaxer?

I want my hair really straight but I don't want it to break off and get as damaged as it would with a relaxer. I need a method that is quick because it takes nearly 4 hours to straighten my hair well with a a flat iron. I'm black and I have ethnic hair (it's really really curly). Any ideas? How do I straighten my hair without a relaxer?
my hair used to take that long to straighten. then i got it cut. and now it takes about 30 min. to a hour. What i did is when to a salon and bought some products that can calm down your hair, and straightening gel. Thats seemed to work a ton. And the thing that helped the most was i bought a wider straightener. It helps alot. and make sure that your straightener is set on high. it wont damage your hair as much as some oil treatments do. Hope i helped!!

Good Luck =)How do I straighten my hair without a relaxer?
you can get it professionally permed.

    or there's those really really good straighteners at the mall it's like two hundred.. maybe less.. it might seem expensive but it works really good. you should go and ask them to try it out on you. if you like the outcome then buy it. (; orr... use a different shampoo and conditioner?? i use dove, it makes my hair really smooth and silky.. i have really thick hair and a lot of it! so it take me a while to straighten my hair too. :/ but yeahh. try em out. (;

hope everything works out for you. ;D
Try a different flat iron, because some are better than others. I've heard the maxiglide is good for african-american hair types. Your hair can still break off and become damaged from all the heat. Try getting a straight sew-in and avoid all the damage to your hair.
    My friend has curly hair also and it also takes 4 hours.But she uses like a heat protection spray before she straightens it %26amp; she also deep conditions like twice a month. She won't wash her hair for 2-3 days since she wants to keep the hair straightened. I hope this helped :}
You can wrap your hair (youtube has tons of videos on how to wrap your hair). I'm relaxed and I have been wrapping my hair for the past 2 months with no heat and my hair comes out straight all the time.

Help question about relaxers? hair loss or shedding?

okay so i have like wavy hair and there are no balding genes whatsoever in my family. and i have gotten a relaxer for about a year and a half. More recently (as Spring emerged) ive been noticing my hair fall out in the shower 40-50 pieces all together along with me brushing it and putting my product in it when its wet. Am i losing my hair or am i just shedding it because i heard in Spring our bodies do that. Also, i have been due for another relaxer for a little while now, just haven't gotten around to it. Is this a reaction to not having my relaxer in yet? Oh, and one last thing, do you gain more hair in summer because your sleeping in later and much more relaxed?Help question about relaxers? hair loss or shedding?
There are a few reasons your hair can be falling out.

If you are due for a relaxer, the hair that is already relaxed is weaker than the virgin hair and that will cause your relaxed hair to fall off. Once you start relaxing your hair, you have to keep up with it religiously.

Also, remember that you are putting chemicals into your hair and therefore you have to take extra care of your hair making sure it is properly moisturized. Too many other products can cause for it to fall off also.

Hair should never shed that much so I doubt its the weather. Stress is also attributed to hair loss, so relax sweetie.Help question about relaxers? hair loss or shedding?

i would recommend to go to a salon, get it done there and buy a ceramic hair straightener, they work wonderful, my hair is curly but soft curly and i get it relaxed once a year and use the hair straightener quite often, the hair looks fine and i still dye my hair and my hair doesnt look damaged.Shoul I use a hair relaxer on my nappy thick lstino hair?
oh yeah. If it is closer to biracial (Black/White) hair, then it will be smooth and have a slight wave to it. If it is kinky, it will straighten well. Or better yet, dont process at all. Besides, the length of time processing is the same as flat ironing

Can I apply a hair relaxer to my daughter's hair after I have applied a texture softener ?

I put a Just for me texture softener on my daughter's hair a little over 6 months ago. Now, I want to put a hair relaxer on her hair because the texture softener did not really do what I wanted it to. Is it safe to do this? Can I apply a hair relaxer to my daughter's hair after I have applied a texture softener ?
Honestly, texture softener isn't a relaxer. Texture softeners basically make your hair softer. It depends on what your daughter's hair type is, though. The texture softener (supposedly) has made your daughter's hair less dry, more smooth, and softer. The relaxer... can damage your hair though. Relaxers are designed for African hair - crispy, dry, tightly curled hair. I'd recommend thermal reconditioning as an alternative to hair relaxers. Can I apply a hair relaxer to my daughter's hair after I have applied a texture softener ?
Since its been about six months, the texturizer should have grown out by now, so its safe to go ahead and apply a mild relaxer to hair. Something like a PCJ. Im assuming the texturizer didn't make her hair softer and more mangeable like you were trying to achieve. The mild relaxer should do this, but you must remember to wash and conditioner her hair on a regular basis in order to maintain her hair and keep it from becoming brittle. Also use use a nice grease like ';Blue Magic'; or ';Royal Crown'; when combing her hair. This will also keep it it soft and moistrized.

P.S. Use relaxer about every 2-3 months
no no no no no bad idea
you have to read the instructions for the relaxer cause some of them have different rules

same girl! well im mixed, but my hair is just like yours. i use the african american relaxer too, and let me tell you, dont be afraid to really use it. use exactly as much as it says, because a little less doesnt last long at ALL. a good one should last 4-6 months. to get best results, i would suggest going to a salon, but at-homes ones can work well too.Using an at home hair relaxer kit?

    Stopping relaxers? Hair breakage?

I'm a sixteen year old African American girl and I've been thinking about stopping my relaxers. One of my friends has stopped her relaxer and it has been about a month. Her hair looks a lot healthier and thicker. I want to grow out my natural hair and cut my relaxed ends later when my hair is at the desired length. Is that possible? I really don't want to cut off all of my hair and start over right now, but everyone keeps telling me that is the only way to go natural. Is that true? Will discontinuing my relaxers cause my hair to break? Helpful answers are greatly appreciated, thanks a lot.Stopping relaxers? Hair breakage?
Nah, you can grow it out. If you want to hold on to those relaxed ends then you need to put your hair in protective styles. Protective styles are hair styles that keep you from combing, brushing, using heat, and styling you hair on a daily basis. Styles such as braids, cornrows, weave, wigs, buns, and super curly styles like rod sets are all examples. Braids are probably the most common transitioning style.

If you do style your hair regularly then your hair will begin to break off at the new growth, which is what you don't want. Some people transition for a few months, while others transition for a few years. How long you transition is completely up to you as long as you take good care of your hair. Yes, not relaxing can break off - it can break off at the new growth because your relaxed hair will be very weak, so be sure to keep it protective styled. But, not relaxing won't make your natural hair break off unless you're mishandling your hair.

Good luck and congrats for making the decision.

    http://www.motowngirl.comStopping relaxers? Hair breakage?
Yes it takes a lot of work and dedication to keep the length while you transition. One way to strengthen your hair between the transition is to try a keratine treatment. It is sealed in with a flat iron so it will give new growth a level of straightness, and the keratine will strengthen relaxed portion on the ends.

Brazilian keratine lasts longer 2-3 months, but is a pricey process $150+, then store bought versions last only a month but $60.
Yes, you can definitely grow out your natural hair and cut the relaxed ends, my friend is actually transitioning from relaxed to natural and she's doing the same thing. You don't have to cut out all your hair, (it would be would be a lot faster and easier though). But if you want to have some hair on your head I say just grow out the perm. You will experience breakage though, because the section where your natural hair meets the permed hair is very weak. Here is one cute hair style you could do while you are transitioning from permed to natural hair.

Initially upon stopping your relaxers there will be a lot of shedding but not necessarily breakage. you don't have to cut it all off now. what you should do is let your roots grow out and slowly start to clip your relaxed ends off. eventually you should be all natural! hope this helps :-)))))

i need help im runing out of things and i dont want this type of hair i want straight down hair. What would happen if i use just for me hair relaxer?
Rather straighten it, I doubt that you will have the patience to relax the growing part every 4-5weeks. Just get a deep cleansing shampoo, a shampoo for your hair type or hair purpose of style, a TREATMENT mask tube, pot or sachets(straightening can really weaken ones hair over time), 1 thermal protector and 1 straightener, and one hand hair dryer. CheersWhat would happen if i use just for me hair relaxer?
I don't think it will straighten it the way you think. It looks thick, but not course, so it would probably only fry it and frazzle it out.

If youu don't want thicker hair, do not thin your hair. It will only come back thicker- trust me.

The best thing to do would be to go to a stylist and ask them the best course of action.
    uhh

    get it thinned.

then straighten it if that doesnt help.
    your a boy.

you shuldn't be worrying so much about your hair

How do i prepare my hair for a hair relaxer at the salon ?

its my first time getting i hair relaxer

what do i need t do to prepare my hair?

do i wash my hair before going

    do i leave it natural

does it need to be clean? How do i prepare my hair for a hair relaxer at the salon ?
No.. Don't wash it or put product in it...

At most, wash it a day or so before you have it relaxed...

the reason being, you don't want to overstimulate your scalp, because it will be more sensitive, and it may cause a bit of burning to your head.

The stylist will gently wash your hair there if needed, without overstimulating your scalp, and proceed with the service. How do i prepare my hair for a hair relaxer at the salon ?
It depends when you are getting this relaxer but i'm going to have to say no. I wouldn't wash because while getting a relaxer it sometimes burns. Maybe it's just me. You don't really need anything to be prepared for. I usually just go and do it. :]

You don't need to put anything in it so do leave it natural. It doesn't have to be clean.
No it doesn't need to be clean, just leave it down and make sure you didn't put any products on before hand. Also, make sure you don't scratch your head at all! Doing that can cause the relaxer to burn your scalp very badly.
Your hair should do some breathing exercises before going. I heard it can be pretty scary for some types of hair.

    Another hair question...relaxers?

I have curly hair and have been blow drying it every two weeks with my hair stylist. Im intrested in doing the Japanese hair straightner. Do you think it's a good idea? Has anyone tried it or know someone who has?Another hair question...relaxers?
I know a few that had that process done.

First, it is very expensive around $500-$700 dollars.

Second, it takes two to three visits to finish the process.

Third, you can never add curls, scruch etc. because the chemicals will only allow straight hair styles.

Otherwise the finish product is very pretty.Another hair question...relaxers?
My mom has it done periodically (she has wavy hair), it looks really good %26amp; she hasn't had any problems with hair damage or what not.
    hmmm
i have two friends who had this done and their hair looks great even after a few months. however, if you have very curly hair you'll have to take care of regrowth every couple of months. just find a reputable salon to make sure that the treatment doesn't get botched. it takes a long time though, 4 hours or more so be prepared to sit still for a long time.
    OK,

    well my Friend did it.

and she has like sheep curly hair.

    it didn't work.

but her mother did it and it worked so

i think it depends on the type of hair,

or at least how well you do it.

What hair products should I use? Creams, Moisturizers, Relaxers...anything!?

I am mostly African-American and I have very sensitive hair. Its kinda curly but not much different than the hair of any African-American woman....and my hair doesn't take well to heat. What hair products, in general, would you suggest? What hair products should I use? Creams, Moisturizers, Relaxers...anything!?
I recommend towel drying your hair... keep the heat off of it. If you mustttt use a blow dryer, get some Garnier Fructis sheen spritzer to block some of the heat.

See if that helps! :DWhat hair products should I use? Creams, Moisturizers, Relaxers...anything!?
you could try CHI silk infusion. it makes your hair shiny and soft, and it can help take some of the frizz or poof out. chi is kind of expensive though sometimes but there are plenty of different brands that work just as great!
well take it from a peron who is half african american but still has unruly thick curly hair. here's a routine to define my curls what i do is first i put detangler spray, then put pink hair lotion, then brush it out (an i prefer to do this with damp hair so rinse it out if u already washed it)then put some coconut oil grease( not too much cuz u don't wanna make ur hair too greassy), then if it starts getting dry put more detangler spray, then put garnier fructis curl shaping spray gel or use mousse if u want, then i use a hair serum called silk drops and this is my daily rootine. this should help tame and define curls with no frizz. and what i wash my Hair with is tresseme moisture rich shampoo and conditioner. and if you want to straighten ur hair us tresseme heat protectant spray. Enjoy! :)(but i reccomend no heat)
wash your hair in the evening and use tresme mouse for curly in hair and the sunsilk curly hair cream. wake up to lovely minimual frizzy curls. sprizt on some john frieda curly hair spray and your out the door. it takes a totally of about 5 minutes and it really does work, at least for me =]
