Yes, this relaxer may not have been as strong as other ones or you left it in for less time. Either way the result was a ';texturizer.'; It is still a chemical process and contains all the same harsh ingredients that relaxers do but it does not take all of the coil out of hair.
Texturizing=About 25% relaxed where hair is left with ringlets.
It sounds like you ';texlaxed';= Basically where hair is about 75% relaxed and almost bone straight but some wave is left in.
So you can use a regular relaxer and leave it in for less time or buy a texturizer. Just be aware it is the same process as a relaxer and the result is very inpredictable. The curls may be an ugly combination between straight and kinky and not true ';curls'; OR you may end up relaxing hair completely straight.
And as you may guess I am anti-relaxer but they can be fine as long as you are taking the extra precaution of deep conditioning and doing protein treatments. Just my advice from me to you.Relaxers that make you hair curly?
Hahah, no, once you get a relaxer you can turn back, you just have to cut off the relaxed hair.... Some people do that with 12 inches of new growth and some do it with less than one inch of new growth. I did it with less than one inch of new growth.
It sounds like you underprocessed your relaxer if it didn't get your hair completely straight, or you didn't buy a relaxer that was strong enough (they come in different strengthts). Other relaxers that will loosen your natural curl pattern (aka: not make your hair bone-straight) is called a texturizer.
Once you get a relaxer it is supposed to straighten your hair. If your hair was not straight right after the relaxer it probably wasn't done correctly. If your hair was straight and now your roots are curly its probably time for you to get another relaxer. Depending on the type of hair you have you will only have to relax your hair every once in a while. I relax my hair every 6 weeks my niece relax her hair 2 or 3 times a year, so like I said it depends on your hair type. If I were you I would wait a couple more weeks and relax it again.
Thats the problem with home relaxers. I stopped having my mom do them. Unless you are a pro, you'll either under process your hair (probably what happened to you) or over process your hair (which happened to me and its NOT fun!!). It should have made your hair straight (I use that relaxer too) but you probably did something wrong and sadly your hair with never go back to how it was before, which you already know.
Next time go to a pro.... Thats the most I can help you, sorry. It happened to me too and I deff. regret it. =[
